An action alert email was sent to selected members at the end of March regarding seeking a Medicaid rate increase.  Based on our lobbyists’ recommendations, legislators were targeted to receive ICEP’s messages regarding the rate increase. ICEP members in these selected legislative districts have been asked to contact their state legislators and inform them that Illinois emergency services are in crisis and that patients’ access to care is in jeopardy if rate increases are not implemented.

There have been no Medicaid rate increases for emergency services since 2000 and Illinois ranks 43 out of the 50 states in Medicaid reimbursement for emergency services. ICEP is asking that legislators support a rate increase in the Department of Healthcare and Family Services budget.
