A Small but Mighty Day in Springfield
On March 25, 2026, ICEP leaders traveled to the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield for Advocacy Day. It was a small but mighty group, and the conversations were productive across every meeting. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but it starts with showing up: and ICEP showed up. By joining forces with ENA (Emergency Nurses Association) and meeting directly with key legislators, our team made meaningful progress on several critical bills. Key conversations are moving in the right direction, and we’ll keep members updated as things develop.
ED Workplace Violence Reporting
ICEP joined forces with ENA (Emergency Nurses Association) and the Illinois Hospital Association to advance legislation requiring reporting of violence against emergency department workers. Momentum is building.
Billing Transparency & Downcoding
ICEP expressed support for a billing transparency bill sponsored by the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS), which aims to protect patients and physicians from inappropriate downcoding practices.
Emergency Physician Access
ICEP met with legislators to discuss the importance of ensuring emergency physician coverage across Illinois. Our team formally expressed support for this legislation and will continue advocating for its advancement as the session progresses.
Emergency medicine advocacy is a year-round commitment, and days like this are proof of what organized medicine can accomplish. ICEP will keep members informed as the legislative session unfolds and these bills continue to advance.
Stay tuned for updates as the Illinois legislative session continues.
