ICEP Deplores the Gun Violence That Killed Seven People in Highland Park

As front-line providers of emergency care, we emergency physicians have seen the horrors that gun violence inflicts on innocent victims.  We deplore the massacre that occurred at yesterday’s Independence Day parade in Highland Park. ICEP commends the heroic response by EMS and other first responders.  Emergency physicians and their hospital colleagues were trained and prepared to provide comprehensive medical care to the victims and did so to minimize the casualties associated with this heinous act.  ICEP believes that these senseless killings must end, and action should be taken by state and federal officials to reduce gun violence.

The Illinois College of Emergency Physicians (ICEP) is the state medical specialty society representing 1400 physicians who practice emergency medicine in Illinois.
