Legislative Update – Week of April 18

The General Assembly, both House and Senate, are off on a spring break this week.  Last week was the 3rd Reading deadline in both chambers to get bills out of the chamber of origin (unless individual deadlines were extended).   The legislature will retu for work on April 26 in the House and May 3rd in the Senate.  Focus will now tu to bills from the opposite chamber that have crossed over, as well as the continued action on the budget, potentially on workman’s compensation, education and pension reform.  At least one vote was taken on workman’s compensation reform during the previous week but, it failed to move from the Senate.  All parties, however, suggested that reform is needed but, that the particular proposal was not necessarily the way to address the issues at hand.
